FAQs

  • Sessions typically last for 1 hour. Some sessions can go longer than this, based on availability and the client’s needs.

My sessions always begin with combination of roughly 2/3 talk therapy/coaching, and end with 1/3 guided hypnosis.

In each session, the purpose is to move forward in achieving specific goals, or reinforcing work from a previous session.

  • This answer varies from person to person, based on their individual expressed needs.

Some clients achieve their goal in one session, while others choose a more ongoing approach (in order to work on various goals, learn more about themselves, or reinforce progress, like going to the chiropractor for a regular adjustment).

My ideal short-term client meets me for about 3-6 sessions. Some long-term clients meet at a weekly or monthly basis, or whenever they feel the need.

  • As online therapy becomes increasingly popular, people are often surprised to realize that Hypnotherapy is so effective because it works wherever you are. In fact, hypnotherapists sometimes conduct telephone sessions using audio exclusively. The majority of hypnotherapy, like many forms of therapy, works with one tool, the human voice, in combination with the words and ideas it communicates.

As you read this now, you are looking at a screen, and you are aware of how we are all becoming accustomed to screens as part of our daily life.

A zoom session is just as effective as in person. Simply add the comfort of your own home, minus the commute.

  • Contrary to popular misconceptions, hypnosis is a natural state. It occurs every night somewhere in the 30-minute period before falling asleep and every morning after waking. It is a familiar state to anyone who has found themselves missing their exit on the freeway because their mind was so focused, or anyone who has listened to a boring lecture and tuned out the words.

Hypnosis is a state of narrowed focus that helps the mind become more receptive to positive change, similar to what happens to the brain when it is learning something new.

Biofeedback Studies show that the brainwaves can be measured as shifting from Beta into Alpha, or even deeper to Theta, when a person is in this state.

  • Many are surprised to find that hypnosis involves being in a relaxed position, eyes closed (or open!), listening to my voice, fully aware of everything going on. They can get up and move at any time, though most people find the experience so pleasantly relaxing they don’t want to!

  • Since hypnosis is a natural state we all experience, everyone is hypnotizable.

In a therapeutic environment, however, the goal is to utilize this natural state to achieve a specific positive goal for yourself.
